Natalia Simonenko

Natalia Simonenko was born in St. Petersburg, Russia. After graduating from the Central Youth Art School of the St. Petersburg region in 1985, she graduated from the F. Gertsen Pedagogical Institute of Graphic Arts in 1992 and obtained a diploma from the I.E. Repin Art Academy in 1999. In 2001 she was admitted to the Association of Russian Artists.
Her solo exhibitions at the Russian House in Berlin in 2002 took her to Germany. Since her marriage in 2011, she has been commuting between St. Petersburg and Stuttgart, the capital of Baden-Württemberg.

Dear friends of art,

It is our great honor to present you the painter Giovanni Pelliccioli (1947-2016) with the exhibition Beyond the Realms of Thought.

As a representative of Surrealism, Pelliccioli successfully exhibited his works throughout Europe and the USA. Raised in simple circumstances, but a loving home, he developed his passion for art in his early childhood. During the first years, and while attending the Accademia Carrara in Bergamo, Italy, his style changed as he experimented with different theories, techniques and ideas. He turned to oil painting at the age of 17 and after a brief impressionistic period discovered Surrealism: he had found his calling.

Pelliccioli’s work continued to evolve and is often categorized into three main periods. The 1° surrealistic period was characterized by paintings whose subjects were mostly inspired by surrealistic painters such as Magritte, Salvador Dalì, Max Ernst, Yves Tanguy… The paintings of the 2° surrealistic period introduce the first signs of Giovanni Pelliccioli’s own Surrealism, when he gave birth to new spiritual conceptions and new symbolic object leitmotivs. With his 3° surrealistic period, the artist introduced a few innovative ways of expression. In fact, it’s the most creative period of his career, irony being the main theme. This is also the time when the artist started to use new materials, such as wood, metal, glass and other natural objects (leaf skeletons, stones) which gave to his works a new sculptural dimension. The « trompe-l’œil » effect also becomes a recurring game. When he moved to Antibes (French Riviera) in 1993, Pelliccioli created the “triangle”: a diagonally cut painting with three-dimensional character. A prolific painter, Pelliccioli completed over 2000 oil paintings.

For this exhibition, a selection of over 40 paintings has been assembled, offering a broad overview of his artistic work. We are looking forward to welcoming you and inviting you to a journey into a world between dream and reality.

The exhibition can be visited until 15.07.2023 always on Wednesdays and Saturdays between 14:00 and 18:00.

We are also delighted to welcome again the pianist and daughter of the artist Ida Pelliccioli in our gallery. For the exhibition opening she has prepared an exciting program titled “Introspections” with works by J. Sibelius, J. Brahms. F. Busoni, L. Janáček and S. Rachmaninov. Giovanni Pelliccioli

Giovanni Pelliccioli was born in San Pellegrino Terme (Italy). He starts drawing at 10, and soon after, starts painting – still life and landscapes. At 18, he attends the Art School of the Academy Carrara in Bergamo. At 21 he discovers surrealism, a style he’ll never give up, and begins his professional career.

During his life, he presented about 120 personal exhibitions in Europe. He is a registered artist in the major museums in the world.

“It is impossible, perhaps even blasphemous to comment an artwork. Only the eyes and a certain mental attitude can allow us to be placed in front of a canvas. The word is not only arbitrary, but insulting and ridiculous, and it always risks to overlap what the canvas can express. As always, my engagement is to create poetry with a touch of irony, to cause a positive emotion and cheer the spirits. The fantastic, the dream, the sense of not logical, are simply a free interpretation of our being.”

On September 10, 2022 the long-awaited vernissage “front line” by Julia Dauksza took place.

It was introduced by a phenomenal concert by the young pianist Jeongro Park from South Korea. A true feast for the ears, which found its crowning conclusion with Liszt’s “Danse macabre”.

A little later, the opening took place during a champagne reception, where Julia revealed interesting background information about herself and her art to the audience in an exciting interview. What role do dreams play in her art? What is it about the fusion of abstract and figurative painting? Where does the title of this exhibition come from? You are of course welcome to ask Julia all these and other questions yourself, for example at another meet-and-greet, about which we will of course inform you again in good time.

we are delighted to introduce to you Julia Dauksza.

The young artist, who lives and works in Düsseldorf, fascinates with motifs that seem to have been snatched from dreams and offer a new perspective on our world. Julia Dauksza has already been seen in four places, including New York (USA), Seoul (South Korea), Istanbul (Turkey), Paris (France), Katowice (Poland) and, of course, in many German cities, including Bonn.

First of all, a concert by the South Korean pianist Jeongro Park with works by L. v. Beethoven, R. Schumann and F. Liszt awaits us. A donation of min. 15,- € per person is requested. More information about the concert can be found here.

Update from 27 of April 2020

Dear art and music lovers,

A small premiere took place on Saturday in our Musikstudio: a vernissage without guests, but with a whole range of technology. Interviews and a small piano concert were recorded with no less than 4 cameras.

The musical part was performed by Yizhuo Meng, who performed a wonderful interpretation of the 1st movement of the moonlight sonata and Beethoven’s work “Les Adieux”. The full length concert can be found here:

The two artists Milena Kunz-Bijno and Michael Tauchert, both from Bonn, were available for an interview. Michael Tauchert is represented for the first time in the Musikstudio and for the Beethoven year, the sculptor made 9 unique wooden sculptures of the great composer based on the 9th symphony. The partly colorful figures are particularly eye-catching due to their mixture of grandeur and wit. For example, the artist used a fork in the branch to give the composer a huge auditory tube. Milena Kunz-Bijno has already exhibited in the Musikstudio 9 years ago and now we are very happy that she is exhibiting again and will be represented by our gallery from now on! Her pictures, collages and sculptures radiate a meditative calm in mostly monochrome color compositions. Music has always been a popular motif for her, which she incorporates into her works, for example, through cleverly integrated sheet music. For her, the immaterial nature of music makes it one of the most highly developed media in art. Spirituality also plays an extremely important role for the very well-read and experienced artist. You can find motifs of different religions in her works, which for her, like music, express one thing: as different as we may be, there are general truths that affect everyone, such as the need for love, security and aesthetics. Here you can watch the interview with the artist (in German):

Otto von Kotzebue has been with our gallery since 2012. He became known to us with his atmospheric oil paintings and watercolors from far and near countries. The Munich artist took a different path for this exhibition and this time created a collection of collages, combined with watercolor painting and ink drawings, from Bonn’s landmarks. However, the message of his pictures remains the same: the focus is not on the lifelike illustration, but on the feeling that the artist connects with the place.

Maria Dierker had her first vernissage on our premises in 2017. Her mostly black and white paintings and ink drawings represent nature in various forms, whereby her technique is based on Far Eastern calligraphy. The focus of her work is on the subject of “becoming-being-passing away”: she shows nature in its beauty, vulnerability and in its elemental force. At the same time, she warns us to treat nature with respect, because one thing is certain: if you disregard the signs of the time, you will have to expect a catastrophe one day.
For Maria Dierker, nature and music are closely related. Among other things, Beethoven saw the same thing, saying, “It is as if every tree in the country spoke to me: Holy, holy! Every tree speaks through you, oh God. Sweet silence of the forest.”
For this exhibition, she provided two terry towers, so-called “Tree Scores“, and two paintings from the work cycle “The Tree“. What is special about the tree scores is that they were created in an area where Beethoven is said to have often walked. The works are created by the artist trapping the bark of a tree on Chinese rice paper and then further processing the picture. What arises is actually confusingly similar to a score.

Antonio Máro has been represented by us since 2013. In fact, this name is a pseudonym because the two artists Apolo and Rafael Ramirez, father and son, are responsible for the works. Unfortunately we are currently unable to exhibit the works that they have provided for this vernissage, as the two artists live in Belgium and the borders are currently closed. Based on the illustrations of the works, however, we can be excited: fitting to the moonlight sonata by Beethoven, we will exhibit two paintings that depict the moon, which is a well-known motif to Antonio Máro. Another abstract painting refers to Beethoven’s 9th Symphony.

Alejandro DeCinti, who is exhibiting at our gallery for the third time since 2015, presents his work of Prometheus for the exhibition, a topic that, as is well known, was also set to music by Beethoven. The painter, originally from Chile, has lives and works in Madrid, Spain since 2002. In this, as in his other works, DeCinti reflects the universal culture and spirituality that is contained in the American and Chilean identity and combines it with classic motifs. This picture will also be shown in this exhibition at a later date.

Rafael Ramirez Máro, whose real name is Peter Ramirez, also came up with something special for this exhibition. He painted two portraits of Beethoven using the living and death masks in the Beethoven House. Such a realistic representation has certainly not existed for a long time.

“(…) Ramírez´ painting lives from deep sensations and their artistic representation. His works reveal the astonishment at the limitless possibilities of art to overcome times and spaces and to penetrate to depths that remain hidden from the superficial view The viewer is taken aback by the suggestive power of color and form, and is concerned with the possibility of re-feeling, the absorption of feelings across spaces and times. The painter directs the gaze to the detail, to the inconspicuous gestures that are expressed in a drama as well as in a musical composition or in the dance step of a flamenco dancer, which the artist captures with a knowledgeable look. He stages key scenes that seem to reveal the meaning of existence (…)”

Georgy Voylochnikov

“A sincere reading of Scriabin’s music … very subtle, sensual, sublime”
(Prof. Mikhail Voskresensky, Chairman of the 4th International Scriabin Competition in Moscow).

Georgy Voylochnikov was born into a family of musicians in Voronezh in 1985 and received his first piano lessons from his father at the age of three. At the age of eight, he entered the Central Music School in Voronezh, where he became a pupil of Valery Volkov.
From 2002 to 2006 he studied at the Gnessins Musical College in Moscow in the class of the famous Professor Andrey Khitruk. During this period, he won the 3rd prize in the competition All-Russian Competition for Young Pianists in Voronezh and the 2nd Prize (1st Prize was not awarded) at the Moscow Götefest Piano Competition in Moscow. In 2006 he began to study at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory under the guidance of the outstanding pianist and laureate of the Tchaikovsky Competition and Queen Elizabeth Competition Stanislav Igolinsky. With him, Georgy continued his postgraduate studies and won at the same time several prizes in prestigious competitions such as the Takamatsu International Piano Competition in Japan, the competition “Premi Principat d’Andorra” and the International Scriabin Competition in Moscow. Since 2014 Georgy Voylochnikov studies for his concert exam at the University of Music and Dance Cologne in the class of Professor Ilja Scheps.
Among the numerous awards that he won in recent years are the International Music Competition Cologne (1st Prize and Audience Award), the Karl-Robert Kreiten Music Competition in Aachen (1st prize), Istanbul Orchestra Sion International Piano Competition (2nd prize), International Piano Competition Geilenkirchen (3rd prize), Spanish Composers International Piano Competition in Madrid (3rd prize). He is also semi-finalist at the UNISA International Competition in Pretoria, South Africa, at the Telekom Beethoven International Piano Competition in Bonn, at the International Schubert Competition in Dortmund, and was selected for the 2015 Tschaikowsky International Piano Competition. He has appeared as a soloist and with various ensembles both in his homeland Russia and in Ukraine, in Japan and in most European countries. He was invited to attend the Chopin Festival in Gdansk on the occasion of Fryderyk Chopin’s 200th anniversary. The highlight of the last year was his interpretation of Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto with the Academic Philharmonic Orchestra in Voronezh, Russia.

On Saturday, September 14, 2019, the vernissage of the artist Victor Shtivelberg took place, which presented his exhibition “Watching and Listening“.
The artist, who lives in Lindau, transformed the entire studio into a small museum with a variety of works that give the impression, through the various techniques, that not only one artist but several of them are exhibiting here.
Setting Victor Shtivelberg down to a specific art direction is fruitless, but in a different way than you might initially think. If the viewer sees different elements of surrealism, symbolism and realism hidden in the works, then he is certainly not entirely wrong, since such elements are certainly contained in his works. But that’s not what matters. Victor Shtivelberg does not want to belong to any particular art direction and he does not think much of the general activity in the art scene either. Since completing his studies in 1987 in his native city of Odessa (Ukraine), the artist has deliberately made his own way.
While in the beginning it was primarily graphics that the artist produced, other techniques such as oil, watercolors, gouache and pastels have meanwhile been included in his works, which he applies with masterly precision. The motifs of his paintings are particularly influenced by his homeland, but also the Israeli cities Zvat and Jerusalem, where he lived for almost 12 years. This can be seen on the sand-colored, garish paintings. In addition, symbols from the various world religions, including Judaism, Christianity and Zen Buddhism, play a major role in his works.
The focus is mostly on figures that the artist portrays in mystical and sometimes witty ways, always taking care not to offend their dignity. So they are all presented in a mystical grandeur, but not without a wink or two.
Victor Shtivelberg describes his art as “transcriptive realism” and thus refers to the real content of his sometimes very imaginative works. This type of realism can by no means mean that he simply paints real objects in an abstract manner. It is much more about the artist’s inner reality. It is about the exchange with the inner ego, with the subconscious or the preconscious and finally it is about the balance between these and the consciousness. His pictures transmit, i.e. transcribe this inner reality to the canvas and thus to us, the viewers. In addition to the search for balance in life, which can also be understood as an invitation to the viewer, the freedom of the individual also plays an essential role. This, or rather the absence of of it, was something that the artist experienced, as he grew up in the Soviet Union, where everything was exactly regulated: what you were allowed to paint and even if you could be an artist at all.
The audience heard this and more during the introductory speech by Johannes Paqué, to which of course the artist was also present with his family.

Before that there was once again a wonderful guitar concert by Veronika Mushkina, who studies under Prof. Alexander Ramirez at the Musikhochschule Düsseldorf.
Pieces by P. Ximenez, J.S. Bach, A. Barrios and several other artists could be heard. It’s amazing how wonderful the transcribed version of Bach’s BWV 998 prelude fits the guitar. Thus, she skillfully accompanied the meditative mood, which is also found again and again in the works of the artist. Equally interesting were the compositions of the two Russian composers Nikita Koshkin and Sergei Rudnev, who wrote interesting and very demanding works. This mixture of meditation and technically demanding works continued in the other works, which hijacked the audience into a South American flair.
An excellent performance, which was celebrated with great applause!

I would like to thank Veronika Mushkina and of course Victor Shtivelberg and his wonderful family for this very successful exhibition opening!

It’s that time again! The Musicstudio opens its doors to introduce you to the artist Victor Shtivelberg. Born in the Ukraine and now living in Germany (Lindau am Bodensee), the artist has been active since 1987 and has made a name for himself internationally beyond his original home. With his exhibition “Watching and Listening” he now celebrates his debut in Bonn! Look forward to a wonderful, colorful exhibition, which will also captivate the intellectual mind with a playful ambiguity! Shtivelberg himself describes his style as “transcriptive realism“, which takes up elements of surrealism, but without losing its objectivity and is always related to the external and internal reality of the artist. His technique is composed of oil painting, pastel colors, gouache and watercolor painting. Victor Shtivelberg writes about his art:

“Every artist is a mediator and not a creator of his works. My work works best when I devote myself entirely to this creative energy. (…) I only need strength to sustain that special state that I can describe as “singing of the soul” or “silent delight”. For me these are the most precious moments. (…) The work, the fight for the kindling of fire – that is creation. “

Of course, the musical part should not be missing and so there is in advance again a guitar concert by Veronika Mushkina. Born in Russia, the musician has been playing music since she was five years old, and at the age of 11 she began to specialize in classical guitar. She is currently studying at the Robert Schumann University under Prof. Alexander Sergei Ramirez in Düsseldorf.

Victor Shtivelberg

Victor Shtivelberg was born in 1960 in Odessa, Ukraine. There he completed his studies at “The Odessa Art School“. Since 1987, he has participated in over 30 solo exhibitions and more than 60 group exhibitions in many countries. His paintings are exhibited in museums and are found in numerous private collections worldwide. In 1991 he became a member of the International Art Association. Since 2003 he lives with his wonderful family in Germany on the beautiful Lake Constance.
Although Victor Shtivelberg’s works are based on realism, it is the mystique of his inner world that brings his paintings to life. They wonderfully cast the viewer in a unique spell. Symbols of different cultures are interwoven, speak their own language and tell stories that are neither realistic nor surrealistic. Over the years, Victor has developed a brilliant, sophisticated and very individual color palette, which he uses with great sensitivity.

Veronika Mushkina

Veronika Mushkina, born in 1993 in Nizhniy Novgorod (Russia), began her musical education at the age of five at the piano at the Music School in Dzerzhinsk. At the age of eleven she switched to classical guitar.
In 2011 she completed her studies with distinction at the Music School in Dzerzhinsk. Recently, the young guitarist received the Deutschlandstipendium and participated in various guitar festivals, such as the “Koblenz International Guitar Festival” and the “Viva la Guitarra!” Festival in Düsseldorf. There she has received master classes from Göran Söllscher, Cecilia Siqueira, Aniello Desiderio, Marco Tamayo, Hubert Käppel, Juan Manuel Canizares, Roman Viazovsky, Hubert Käppel, Fabio Zanon, Rovshan Mamedkuliev, Stefan Hackl, Coco Vega and Evgeny Finkelstein. She has won prizes in international competitions in Russia, Serbia, Italy and Spain.
She is currently studying Bachelor guitar at the Robert Schumann Hochschule under Prof. Alexander-Sergei Ramirez.

On September 8, 2018, the vernissage of the artist Stephanie Binding took place, which presented her exhibition “Of cities and people”. On display are numerous bronze sculptures, which are usually people in everyday situations, such as a walker with his dogs or people sitting on a park bench. Furthermore, there are some sculptures that give the viewer a very special perspective impression, such as the view through a nave. Inspired by Caspar David Friedrich, man finds himself as a tiny figure in it, which emphasizes the suggested size of the building. A really remarkable artistic achievement!
Also on display are etchings and paintings by the artist, which also emphasize the urban landscape. The nature of the motif grants the artist time and again the play with the perspective between the house facades. In the city – a concentrated form of human habitat – the viewer encounters people who chat with each other on park benches, as well as dark corners that one would rather not enter alone at night.
The artist paints or draws not simply from photos. Instead she works a lot with sketches that she makes in everyday life of certain places and people. Otherwise shes sketches from memory and thus uses her personal impression of certain places as a motif for her works. Thus, the viewer finds himself in landscapes, which provide an introspective insight into the idea of ​​Stephanie Binding through the specific composition of individual motifs, which, however, are put into contrast to the motif through the realistic representation, given by the nature of the medium of etching. The painting, in which she uses both acrylic and oil paints, grants the artist completely different freedoms, allowing the impressionistic elements of her work to come to the fore.

Another highlight of the vernissage was the concert of Sophia Aretz (transverse flute) and Jakob Wagner (guitar), who are both studying at the conservatory in Düsseldorf and who already made a name for themselves with their beautiful concerts. Among others, there were pieces by Astor Piazzolla, Jacques Ibert, but also Franz Schubert. If you find the combination of flute and guitar strange, then listening to this duo will teach you an entirely new perspective! The emotional interplay of the two musicians, both of whom know how to combine the uniqueness of their instruments into a whole, left the audience in reverent silence, only interrupted by the applause between the pieces. The timbre of the flute, paired with sometimes insanely fast passages alternated with the impressive sounds of the guitar, which produced a true sound carpet through the great technical and musical skill of the musician.
Added to this were the highly interesting stories that the musicians told about the composers and their works, giving the listener a good mix between ecstatic sounds and informative content.
It will certainly be exciting to follow the further path of those two young musicians and I would recommend anyone to listen to this duo once!

I would like to invite you to the new exhibition “Of cities and people – sculptures, paintings and etchings” by Stephanie Binding.
As the title suggests, Stephanie Binding is dedicated to the urban landscape and with her paintings, drawings and bronze figures, which give an introspective insight into the face of a living space dominated by monumental architectural structures. But not everything is dark: Light and darkness, isolation and loud laughter go from street corner to street corner and thus the viewer is confronted with a realistic, if impressive, portrayal of the urban living space.
Born in Aachen in 1978, the artist first studied architecture until she decided in 2000 to devote herself fully to art by studying sculpture at the HfK Bremen under Prof. Altenstein. Among other things, she received an Erasmus scholarship at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna and participated in the master class for graphics and printing techniques under Prof. Damisch, before she graduated in 2007 with a degree at the HfK Bremen. In addition, she became a master student of Prof. Altenstein and since 2008 she is an Artistic Assistant at the Department of Visual Design at RWTH Aachen University. Since 2015 she works in her studio in Kettenis, Belgium.
Since 2006 Stephanie Binding has exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions, ia. in Aachen, Karlsruhe, Hamburg, Bremen, Berlin, Maastricht and Salzburg. Some works can also be visited in public spaces. She designed a group of figures for the Morgenstern Museum in Bremerhaven, a Tondo Odyssey quay in Vegesack and 2 facade figures for the City Hall of Cologne.

As always, this exhibition opening will begin with a classical concert. Sophia Aretz and Jakob Wagner play works by Franz Schubert, Astor Piazzolla, Maura Giuliani, Máximo Diego Pujol, Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco, Mike Mower and Jacques Ibert on the flute and the guitar. A musical experience that you should not miss!

Sophia Aretz, born 1996 in Mönchengladbach, studied flute with Prof. André Sebald. In the field of flute, piano and harpsichord, she has received numerous scholarships from the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben, the Lyra Foundation, as well as annual scholarships from the Bürgerstiftung Düsseldorf as part of the Deutschlandstipendium. In addition to special prizes awarded by the Gretel-Sütterlin Foundation, the Jugend & Schlösser Foundation and the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben, she received the first prize five times at the national competition “Jugend musiziert”. On an international level, she received 2nd prize at the flute festival at Adams in the Netherlands and a 1st prize at the flute festival ensemble competition in Freiburg with a flute ensemble. In addition to a scholarship and multiple special prizes, in 2015 the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben organized and financed a concert tour to Luxembourg with its wind quintet “Molto Vento”. Currently, she is again the recipient of the Deutschlandstipendium 2017/18. Since 2017 she is a member of the Junge Norddeutsche Philharmonie, which ia. debuted in the Elbphilharmonie.
Jakob Wagner, born in 1994 in Starnberg, received his first guitar lessons from Peter Jermer at the Municipal Music School Starnberg. He received in-depth teaching in 2011 at the International Guitar Academy Koblenz. In 2013 he began studying at the Leopold Mozart Center of the University of Augsburg under Takeo Sato, before being admitted to the class of Prof. Alexander Sergei-Ramirez at the Robert Schumann University in Düsseldorf in 2014. He completes his training through regular masterclasses with Marco Tamayo, Ricardo Gallen, Paco Pena, Aniello Desiderio, Roland Dyens, Carlo Marchione, Franz Halasz, Judicael Perroy, Matteo Mela, Bill Kanengiser. Jakob Wagner is Youth Musician Federal Prize winner and Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now scholarship holder. In 2016 he received the PROMOS scholarship for the International Guitar Festival in Havana, Cuba. He was also the recipient of the Deutschlandstipendium 2016/17. Since winter semester 2016, Jakob Wagner has been studying English, American and German studies at the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf. For the season 2016/17 he received an engagement at the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus. In 2017 he won 3rd prize at the international Hannabach Guitar Competition in Augsburg. In the winter term 2017/18 he studied an Erasmus semester with Prof. Gérard Abiton in Paris.

On Saturday, May 25, 2019, the vernissage was held as a prelude to the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Musikstudio and Gallery. Seven different artists who have accompanied the music studio with their work for several years joined together for this occasion. Kirsten Lubach, Otto von Kotzebue, Maria Dierker, Antonio Máro, Rafael Ramirez Máro, Alejandro DeCinti and Dao Droste provided more than 30 works and created, despite their different styles, a very beautiful and exciting exhibition.

But let’s start with the concert, which took place in advance at 15:30. We had already made the acquaintance of Seif el din Sherif once and he has remained in our memory as a very subtle and highly talented pianist. This time he was accompanied by Peter Amann (bassoon) and Meriam Dercksen (clarinet), with whom he formed the Glinka Trio. Pieces by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Ludwig van Beethoven and, of course, Mikhail Glinka were heard. Such an ensemble is, of course, quite rare to hear and so the audience awaited eagerly the concert. The classical pieces of the three composers unfolded in completely new sounds. With the bassoon, Peter Amann often played the part that was actually intended for a viola, but the quiet and deeper bass of this instrument gave the whole thing a quality all of its own. Meriam Dercksen played lively and soulful on her clarinet, while mostly alternating with Seif el din Sherif often in the main voice of the melody. Seif also played very sensitively and knew how to hold the different voices of the instruments together with his accompaniment, which in combination with the bassoon created a pleasantly warm tapestry of sound. A truly wonderful concert!

At the opening of the exhibition itself, Gabriele Paqué introduced the artists and their works in short interviews. Kirsten Lubach originally comes from the Bonn region, but has since settled in Vienna, where she works for the Austrian postal service and designs the stamps, among other things. She is also active as an artist with her copperplate engravings and can be admired more frequently in galleries. Thematically, she deals with nature and the various creatures that can be found in the forest or even on the coast. Maria Dierker has also devoted herself entirely to nature and has exhibited both flower paintings and her well-known “Tree Scores”. For her, the tree has a very special role, as it gives life and represents a strong foundation that gives us humans support. Otto von Kotzebue is again represented with his watercolor paintings. In addition to the already often exhibited (city) landscapes, there are also abstract paintings that captivate the viewer in their mysteriousness. Dao Droste can be found again with her airy and very aesthetic paintings as well as with three bronze sculptures, which decorate the rooms in their elegance. Lastly, Rafael Ramirez Máro told about his work as an artist. He was also representative that day of his father Apolo Ramirez and the Chilean painter Alejandro DeCinti. Rafael Ramirez Máro works on two footholds, namely on the one hand under his own name and on the other hand together with his father under the pseudonym Antonio Máro. As Antonio Máro both artists create mostly abstract paintings, which in their meditative mood take up the art of the indigenous population of Peru, of which both artists are descendants. Under his own name, Rafael Ramirez Máro in turn creates paintings based on baroque models, which stand out from Antonio Máro due to their narrative character. Alejandro DeCinti, who has a close friendship with Rafael, painted in a similar manner. While Alejandro DeCinti’s works in this exhibition are mainly from the cycle “The Ship of Fools” (after Sebastian Brant, 15th century), Rafael’s works from the cycles “Mythology” and “La Celestine” can be admired.

As always, the conversations with the artists attracted great interest from the audience, so this vernissage was a wonderful start to celebrate the anniversary of the gallery!

The time has come! The gallery is celebrating its 10th anniversary! While the actual celebration will take place on June 22nd, we are starting the festivities with an exhibition opening that has it all: All artists who have closely accompanied the gallery on its way will be represented with works and thus the gallery will turn into an Eldorado of a whole ensemble of painters during this collective exhibition!

Of course, the musical aspect should not be neglected at this opening as well and therefore I am very pleased to welcome the Glinka Trio to the Musicstudio! It was founded in 2016 by the former students of the University of Music and Dance Cologne Meriam Dercksen (clarinet), Seif El Din Sherif (piano) and Peter Amann (bassoon). Seif El Din Sherif has been heard in the Musicstudio before and I can guarantee that this concert will be well worth it! Pieces by M. Glinka, W. A. ​​Mozart and L. v. Are played. Beethoven.

Das Glinka Trio

The Glinka Trio was founded in the summer of 2016. The international ensemble consisting of Meriam Dercksen (clarinet / the Netherlands), Seif El Din Sherif (piano / Egypt) and Peter Amann (bassoon / Germany) are all members or assistants of well-known orchestras and have met during their studies at the University of Music and Dance Cologne. There, they had already played together in other occupations before the founding of the current ensemble.
As part of the chamber music lessons of the University of Music and Dance Cologne, the musicians were taught by Professor Antoni Spiri. Regular full-length concerts with the extensive trio repertoire and the work in rehearsals and teaching have welded the ensemble together and made it into a high-class and professional ensemble.

The Glinka Trio has been chosen as Best of NRW Ensemble by the Dörken Foundation.

Dear lovers of art and music,

On March 30, 2019, the vernissage of the artist duo “Antonio Máro” took place. To start off, there is always, as it is now tradition, a concert that was performed this time by the Aelius trio.

And this prelude was extremely well done, because the musicians really carried the audience away with their enthusiasm for music. Starting with the joyful and lively trio of Haydn, Jennifer Seubel (flute), Marco Sanna (piano) and Elio Herrera (cello) found a very nice classic introduction, which at the same time anticipated the idea of ​​this concert: it should be fun and bring joy. The musicians understood how to do this very well, and they were very keen to act as a coherent whole. You never had the feeling that an instrument was in the foreground. Everything fit harmoniously together perfectly. Nonetheless, the pieces also demanded technical and musical qualities of each individual musician, as was repeatedly shown in some passages that the three confidently mastered. The trio of Beethoven also exuded a lively spirit, which was certainly due to the young age of the composer at that time. The piece was originally written for piano, flute and the bassoon instead of the cello. But the composition also allows the playing of a cello, since the pitch is about the same height with the bassoon. Listening to Beethoven always turns out to be particularly interesting, as he was a major actor of the high classic, who was a forerunner to the romantic as well. In this piece the particular the reference to the classic was well emphasized, so that many parallels and of course some differences in direct comparison with Haydn could be understood. However, the real highlight for many visitors was the “Four Seasons” of Piazzolla. If someone wasn’t awake already, then now was definitely the time! The rhythmic liveliness of this composer of the twentieth century, who had a great influence on the development of the South American tango, tempted almost everyone to join in as the trio played these wonderful pieces. A very nice performance!

At 5 pm the actual opening of the exhibition took place. Unfortunately Apolo Ramirez couldn’t make it to the vernissage because of a disease, but his son had come, who is an equal part of the artist duo Antonio Máro. The introductory lecture was held by Johannes Paqué in dialogue with Rafael Ramirez. Johannes Paqué first spoke about the life of Apolo Ramirez, who was born in Peru in a small village. Early on, he developed a passion for art, especially through works by Willi Baumeister, Picasso, and also by German medieval artists such as Hans Holbein the Younger. But since art is something that often doesn’t pay well he studied medicine in addition to art. By doing so, he finally found himself in Germany, where he met his future wife, with whom he raised four children. Even while working as a practicing physician, Apolo Ramirez continued to paint. He also became a master student of Willi Baumeister and both combined a deep friendship during Baumeister’s lifetime. If you ask him what it is that he still has retained from Baumeister, then he always gives the answer that it is precisely the small color accents within a picture that affect it’s entire character. And if you look at the pictures (s.b.), then this is often the case. If one looks at the flute player (see picture at the bottom), for example, the inconspicuous red color accent makes a great deal in the momentum of the picture. All in all, it is always the colors that are in the foreground for both artists. The art of Antonio Máro stands for itself. It is not representative, not spiritualized and intellectually exaggerated. Rafael Ramirez understood that very early on. Already at the age of 12, he worked in the studio together with his father and since then he has played a significant role in the works of Antonio Máro. Both artists pursue very different artistic approaches: For Apolo Ramirez, the experiment is in the foreground, while Rafael Ramirez pursues a very well thought-out and conceptualized strategy in painting. The collaboration describe both artists as jazz, with different temperaments meeting and complementing each other to create an inimitable work of art that unifies the qualities of both artists in equal measure.

More about the art of Antonio Máro and the paintings can be found in the catalog, which was printed especially for this exhibition. It also contains an original signature of the artists and was produced in a small edition of 50 pieces. The catalog can be purchased for 15, – €.

Dear art and music lovers,

The two artists Antonio Máro and Rafael Ramirez Máro, father and son, are already long-time companions of our gallery and it is always a pleasure to welcome them in our venue!
Born in Peru painter Antonio Máro (born Apolo Ramírez Zapata) had been inclined to art ever since he was a child, but the family did not like the fact that his son was engaged in such a non-lucrative undertaking, so he initially painted anonymously. Ultimately, he studied medicine in Germany and worked for many years in this profession. However, he never stopped being an artist due to the encouraging words of his companions, and so he became a student of Willi Baumeister. Meanwhile, Antonio Máro had already made a reputation as an artist, so that he was ultimately no longer forced to continue working as a physician. Since 1972 he also works very closely with his son Rafael and both developed the Máro style, which is unmistakable in all their works. Their style is also influenced by the pre-Columbian art and culture of the indigenous people of Peru.
Rafael Ramirez Máro has also become famous as an artist under his own name, and his oeuvre, based on classical painters such as Leonardo Da Vinci and Goya, includes classical portraiture and the depiction of individuals as an expression of their time.
In 2018, Antonio Máro, who is artistically still very active, was 90 years old and so father and son decided to celebrate this birthday with an exhibition series for the whole 91st year! Both artists continue to develop the Máro style, and works by Máro in various creative periods will be on display.

The musical prelude to this exhibition opening is provided by the Aelius Trio, consisting of Jennifer Seubel (flute), Elio Herrera (cello) and Marco Sanna (piano). They play pieces by Joseph Haydn, Heitor Villa-Lobos, Louise Farrenc and Astor Piazzolla.

Three young, enthusiastic and exceptionally committed musicians from the Cologne University of Music founded the “Aelius Trio” in 2018. Jennifer Seubel, flute, Elio Herrera, cello, and Marco Sanna, piano, share a great passion for chamber music.
This relatively unusual ensemble has set itself the goal of exploring and interpreting known and unknown works. Well-known classical trios combine in their concert programs works by Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven and interesting, lesser-known works by composers (Louise Farrenc) or by forgotten composers (such as Ferdinand Ries).
The eclecticism of the “Aelius Trio” shows itself when the three musicians also perform works of “New Music”, as well as Crossover / Jazz or the Tango world with, for example, the whole cycle of the seasons by Astor Piazzolla.

Apolo Ramírez

Apolo Ramírez Zapata, born 1928 in Catacaos (Piura), is a Peruvian artist. Apolo began to paint as a child. His first teacher was the Belgian Ricardo Grau, who was then the director of the Art Academy of Lima. As a medical student he came to Germany, where he studied under Willi Baumeister. Since 1972 Antonio Máro has been working under this pseudonym together with his son Rafael Ramírez under which they both develop the Máro-style.
The spiritual roots of Máro’s work lie in the pre-Columbian art and culture of his native Peru. Both artists live and work today in Hauset, Belgium.

Rafael Ramírez Máro

Rafael Ramírez is not only biographically a citizen of the world, who has found a home in different countries, he is above all a citizen in the artistic field. He alternates virtuously between the different epochs of art history. In his work he brings to life Rembrandt just as much as Tintoretto, Goya or Leonardo da Vinci. To him there is no contradiction between temporal proximity and a centuries-long distance. He is concerned with the artistic expressions of feelings, thoughts or visions, which come in different historical guises, but always pointed to the same temporal origin.
The epochal references that are comprehensible to the viewer of Ramírez’s works are mirrored by the possibilities and viewing habits of our time. The art of the 20th century has a fragmentary character and no longer has the closed horizon like the works of bygone eras. It is possible to juxtapose different epochs with their expressive possibilities and to synthesize them with the means of modernity such as “Infinito” and “Assemblage”. The focus is on the feeling that artistic works trigger on the viewer.
Ramírez’s paintings thrive on deep feelings and their artistic representation. In his works astonishment reveals the boundless possibilities of art to transcend times and spaces and to penetrate into depths that are hidden from the superficial view. The emotion of the suggestive power of colour and form is communicated to the viewer. It is about the possibility of feeling for oneself, of absorbing feelings over spaces and times. The painter draws his attention to the detail, to inconspicuous gestures that are expressed in a drama as well as in a musical composition or in the dance step of a flamenco dancer, whom the artist captures with a connoisseur’s eye. He stages key scenes that seem to reveal the meaning of existence.
Ramírez focuses on such scenes and creates new approaches to reality through their artistic presentation. He is concerned with both the individual and the spirit of its epoch. Both are closely related in his thinking about mankind. Mankind is not isolated, not an island in its time. According to this idea, the figure never stands alone in his paintings. Rather, it is the symbolic expression of its time.
Just as color, line, space and emptiness in the compositions are in a kind of dynamic interrelation, so does the human being, the center of Rafael Ramírez’s artistic oeuvre, in an epochal context. His paintings are a kind of stage on which the drama of life develops. Historical material captivates him, but nevertheless: Although the artist often expresses such themes in his pictures as scenes from the Spanish Civil War (1936-39) or the crimes of the National Socialists against the Jewish population, he does not see himself as history painter. The different figurative forms are for him ways that lead to a different goal than to a theatrical presentation. He is concerned about the dismay. For Rafael Ramírez, images are not images in the mimetic sense. Rather, he sees his painting in the tradition of the magically spiritual panel painting that reaches deep layers of the subconscious.

Aelius Trio

Jennifer Seubel first studied at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik Trossingen under Prof. Arife Gülsen Tatu, where in July 2009 she passed her final exam in the degree program “Graduate music teacher” with the grade “very good”. She continued her artistic education with Prof. Robert Winn at the University of Music and Dance in Cologne (HfMT) and completed her studies of artistic instrumental education in July 2010 with honors. From October 2010 to April 2014 she studied there in the master’s program, which she finished with an excellent degree and the title “Master of Music”.
She gained further musical knowledge by participating in masterclasses with Prof. Eckard Haupt, Prof. Andrea Lieberknecht, Michael Cox, Robert Aikten, Gitte Marcusson, Thaddeus Watson and Prof. Eyal Ein-Habar. At an early age she began with orchestral work. Already at the age of ten, she gave her solo concert debut with the Kreisjugendorchester Südliche Weinstraße. From 2000-2006 she was a flutist in the Landessymphonieorchester Rheinland-Pfalz, with which she undertook concert tours to California, China, the Czech Republic and Poland. She gained further orchestral experience at the “German-Scandinavian Youth Philharmonic”, the “Russian Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra of St. Petersburg”, the “Kammerphilharmonie Europa”, the “Junge Kölner Philharmonie” and at the “International Young Orchestra Academy” at the “Festival of Young Artists Bayreuth”. Since 2010 she regularly plays in projects of the “Neue Philharmonie Westfalen” in Recklinghausen and Gelsenkirchen and at the “Philharmonie Südwestfalen”. She has also been invited to the “Frankfurt Opera and Museum Orchestra”, the “Dortmund Philharmonic” and the “Stuttgarter Kammerorchester” ever since and has already performed with soloists such as Daniel Hope and Paul Meyer and in halls such as the Berlin Philharmonic, Palau de la Musica Barcelona and the Wiener Musikverein. Even as a soloist, Jennifer Seubel has already excelled several times together with the “Oberbergische Symphonie-Orchester” as well as with the “Collegium Musicum” in Lviv, Ukraine.
Her prizes and awards include several awards at national and federal level at the music competition “Jugend musiziert”, the 2nd prize at the Pfälzer Hausmusiktage, 2002, the 1st Soloist Prize and Special Prize for Contemporary Music at the International Music Competition “Città di Barletta” in Italy , 2006, the “Iris-Marquardt-Förderpreis” of the Trossingen University of Applied Sciences in the category Chamber Music, 2007, the 1st prize in the “Euroasia Music Festival”, 2009, the 2nd prize. at the “National Fluitconcours Ittervoort” in The Netherlands, 2011 and the 2nd Prize at the “Alexander & Buono International Flute Competition”, New York, 2011. In 2002, Jennifer Seubel received a scholarship to attend the workshop of “Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp “in Michigan, United States. Since 2003 she is a scholarship holder of the “Paul and Yvonne Gillet Foundation” for young musicians.
In April 2010 she was admitted to the foundation “Yehudi Menuhin LiveMusicNow Köln e.V.” and from 2012-2014 she was one of the scholars of the “Werner Richard – Dr. Carl Dörken Foundation “. Since October 2012 she is a lecturer at the University of Music and Dance Cologne and is invited as a jury member to audition the Cusanuswerk and the Lions Music Prize. Since October 2018 she also works as a flute lecturer at the University of Koblenz. She regularly gives chamber music concerts in different ensembles. Be it with the flute duo “Noble”, together with Sally Beck, with whom she published an arrangement of the “Carnival of the Animals” in the Bärenreiter publishing house in early 2018, or with Ivan Petricevic, guitar, in the “Duo Ventone”. In addition, she performs in the “Aelius Trio” together with Elio Herrera, cello, and Marco Sanna, piano, is involved in projects of the “Opernwerkstatt Köln” and also flutist in the collective 3:6 Cologne, the ensemble for New Music, by the Kunststiftung NRW, the German Music Council and the Musikfonds.

Elio Herrera was born in San Carlos-Cojedes, Venezuela. Under the supervision of the world-renowned music project “El Sistema” he received his first cello lessons at the age of ten.
As a 16-year old he already played together with the Venezuelan Teresa Carreño Youth Symphony Orchestra, led by Claudio Abbado, Sir Simon Rattle, Gustavo Dudamel, Eduardo Marturet, Sung Kwak, Frühbeck de Burgos, Maria Guinand, Placido Domingo, Christian Vasquez, Rebecca Miller, Eugene Kohn and Nikolaj Znaider and Robert H. P. Platz.
In the same year he began studying at the University of Arts in Caracas with William Molina and Marek Gazjler, which he completed in 2013 with the Bachelor of Music. Since 2016, Herrera has been studying violoncello in the master’s degree at the University of Music and Dance Cologne in the class of Nadège Rochat and Prof. Maria Kliegel. In addition to numerous projects at the university, he attended in 2018, among others, the Academy of Performing Arts and Music in Montepulciano under the supervision of Prof. Dr. med. Florence Millet and Prof. Johannes Schöllhorn. Since February 2018 he is a member of the “Aelius Trio” for chamber music. He also gave guest performances at the Cologne Opera House in the same year with the support project “Gargonza Arts” for New Arts.
His passion for music has already taken him to other international stages of renowned concert halls, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the Vienna Concert Hall, the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, the Madrid Auditorio Nacional de Música, the Toulouse Halle aux Grains, the Theater am Kirchplatz in Lichtenstein, the Stavanger Concert Hall in Norway, the Concert Hall in Stockholm, the Munich Gasteig, the Lisboa Grande Auditório, the Royal Festival Hall, the Istanbul Zorlu Center Performing Arts, the Festspielhaus Salzburg and the Teatro Alla Scala Milano.

Marco Sanna, born 1989 in Cagliari (Italy), received his first piano lessons at the age of 5. He received a scholarship to study for a year at the renowned “Ecole Normale de Musique Alfred Cortot” in Paris with Professor Patrick Zygmanowski. He began his studies with Prof. Fabio Bidini in 2010 at the Hanns Eisler School of Music in Berlin and continued at the HfMT in Cologne, where he completed his master’s degree in March 2018. From October 2018 he will start his chamber music master studies at the Frankfurt University and his pedagogical Bachelor at the HfMT Cologne.
He has completed numerous master classes with professors such as Fabio Bidini, Jacques Rouvier, Aquile’s Delle Vigne, Benedetto Lupo, Menahem Pressler, Pinchas Zukerman, Gabor Takacs-Nagy and Andras Schiff. From the masterclass with the pianist Andras Schiff the radio station “Deutschlandfunk” reported with great enthusiasm and much praise for the skills of Marco Sannas, who found particularly much recognition here.
Marco Sanna is a multiple award winner of national and international competitions. As a soloist and chamber music pianist, he has already been invited to festivals such as the “Rome International Piano Festival” or “Verbier Festival”, and has performed several times in important concert halls (Berliner Philharmonie and Kammermusiksaal, Konzerthaus Berlin, Audimax Bochum, etc.). In May 2014 Marco Sanna published a joint work with double bassist Orazio Ferrari. The result was a CD for the Italian music label “Velut Luna”. The special feature of this musical collaboration is that this is the world’s first recording of Chopin’s Cello Sonata and Schumann’s Adagio e Allegro on the double bass. The CD got very positive reviews from international magazines like “The Strad” and “Gramophone”. A second CD with music by Rachmaninov is scheduled for 2018.
Marco Sanna regularly performs chamber music evenings with members of the Berlin Philharmonic and Karajan Academy Berlin, with cellist Anne Yumino Weber (principal cellist at the Frankfurt Opera, solo cellist with DRP Saarbrücken) and clarinetist Andy Miles (solo clarinettist with WDR Cologne).
From July to November 2017, Marco, together with the Berlin “Furiant Quartet”, undertook a concert tour in Europe and America sponsored by the “Lincoln Center New York”, with a total of 290 concerts.

Dear friends of art and music,

On Saturday, January 12, 2019, the vernissage “Dance of Colors” by the artist Lúcia Hinz took place. It was announced that everyone who wanted to escape the gloomy weather, is cordially invited to participate in this vernissage. And as “luck” would have it, it really was a rainy and chilly afternoon! But that did not stop our numerous guests from making their way to our gallery to celebrate this colorful exhibition opening with the other lovers of art and culture. As I emphasize again and again, I am very happy to welcome guests from all over the world to my home and this time it was easy to feel a touch of Brazil in the rooms, as many friends and family (some extra arrived for this event) of the artist were present.

As it is a tradition in my gallery, a vernissage is always ushered in by a concert, this time presented by the two young and gifted students Efe Gerdanoglu and Karolina Tomaszewska of the University of Music and Dance Cologne (with Prof. Sheila Arnold). Efe Gerdanoglu first played the Piano Sonata in F major, K.332 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, which he played playfully and highly musically on the historic grand piano of Ernst Kaps from 1875. This was followed by the Polonaise in A flat major, Op. 53, by Frédéric Chopin, which he presented powerfully and joyfully on the instrument. Karolina Tomaszewska played 12 of the Préludes by Chopin, which in their somewhat melancholic mood contrasted with the works of the exhibition, but in their virtuosity gave the audience a pure listening pleasure.

The official opening then took place with the introductory words of Dr. Uwe Kaestner (Ambassador a.d.), Who exposed the life of the artist in a most exciting way. As he emphasized, he is not an art historian, so his narrative was less about her paintings and yet the listener could soon understand from the stories what moved the artist to devote herself entirely to painting and to the motive of the strong, self-confident women in her paintings. Later on, the artist herself was available for a conversation and she once again described in detail her art and her motivations to paint.
Lúcia Hinz is the middle daughter of a very large family. So she quickly learned to defend herself against her younger and older siblings and to assert herself as a self-employed person. Emancipation in the sense of feminism is not her declared goal. It is much more her concern for people to treat each other with respect. And this could be felt by everyone who had a different opinion and who thought he had to patronize her or even do violence to her! In this respect, the image of the strong woman is a symbol of her own life, which is also representative for the respectful, loving treatment that all people deserve – whether young or old, black or white, poor or rich. Ultimately, a person is a dignified and noble being, drawn by its history and the resulting experiences, which are reflected in the colorful colors of the works by Lúcia Hinz. On the basis of her autobiographical references to the figures in her paintings, the artist reflects her personal interpretation of this universally valid truth.
Her social commitment, to which she stays true in her art projects as well as in her everyday life, comes from her eventful childhood and youth in Brazil:
Lúcia Hinz comes from a poor region in the east of the country, so it was not unusual for her family to be very poor. However, she and her siblings still had a roof over their heads. Lúcia Hinz said that she had hidden street children with whom she used to play at night under her bed. When her mother came to her room, which she shared with her sister, in order to check on them, she noticed two pairs of legs sticking out from under the bed… When asked who that was, Lúcia gave defiantly the answer that these were her friends. The mother let the two continue to sleep there overnight, but Lúcia was already preparing for her father’s furious ranting the next morning. However, it turned out quite differently: her father suggested that the two children could live with them as well. When you already have so many children, two more don’t make a difference!
The artist also told a lot about her painting technique and the creative process, which is characterized by an intuitive way of painting. If she realizes that the painting she is making has a negative feeling to it, she just paints it over. Tabula rasa! Joy and elegance are the defining factors that guide the artist. If you look at the pictures with the very fashionably dressed figures, it certainly does not seem unlikely that the artist ever thought about becoming a fashion designer before finally deciding to devote herself completely to the art.

At this point I would like to thank the numerous and highly interested public that made this vernissage a success. My thanks also go to Uwe Kaestner and of course the artist Lúcia Hinz for her beautiful exhibition in an intoxicating dance of colors!

Dear friends of art and music,

I would like to invite you to the new exhibition “Dance of Colors” by Lúcia Hinz. The artist, who comes from Brazil, has spent her life working to improve the living conditions of socially disadvantaged groups – such as women and children – and her exhibitions have already been admired in Brazil as well as in many European countries. So it is hardly surprising that the woman as a motif appears again and again in various abstracted representations in her works, surrounded by a splendor of color that is characteristic of her work and that gives the motifs their beauty and dignity.

The art of Lúcia Hinz combines strong and free lines with bright and cheerful colors. With elegance and humility, as well as a unique language of forms, she persistently creates images of a woman who knows what she wants. In her works the viewer senses self-confidence, beauty, rhythm, independence and joy. Her figures convey lively and intense passion, at the same time they are pure and innocent. Lúcia creates a poetry of colors and makes us feel that happiness and peace can be found in the simplicity of our existence. Problems are abstracted and in this way become an expression of the triumph of a woman capable of fighting for her goals.

Lúcia Hinz

Lúcia Hinz was born in Caicó, Rio Grande do Norte (Brazil) in 1957 and lived first in the Northeast of Brazil, then in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. She has dedicated herself to art since her youth and combines it with solidarity, always actively working for the rights and improvement of living conditions of the disadvantaged.
In 1989 the artist came to Germany, lived with her family first in Munich and Aachen and since 1996 in Belgium, where she attended the “Académie des Beaux-Arts” de Verviers. For her efforts to promote a Brazilian-Belgian rapprochement, Lúcia was appointed Ambassador of “Participatory Diplomacy” by the then Brazilian Ambassador in Belgium, Mr. Jeronimo Moscardo.
In 2007 she was appointed as “perpetuated member of the Brazilian Academy of Fine Arts” of Rio de Janeiro. In 2008 she became a member of FALASP – Federação das Academias de Letras e Artes do Estado de São Paulo / Brazil. In 2010 – she was elevated to the academic degree in the chair number 37, of the Brazilian sculptor Antônio Francisco Lisboa “o Aleijadinho”.
Currently, she moves between Belgium, Germany and Brazil, where she successfully continues her artistic work with a variety of exhibitions. At the same time, in recent years, the artist promoted and participated in numerous actions of different aid projects in different countries. Her desire is to contribute in this way to improve the living conditions of women and children, including as ambassador of the project “Arte Solidária” de Florianópolis for Germany.

Her most famous work is “Capital da Cultura”, created for the National Library in Brasília, a building designed by the Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer.

CVs of the musicians

Efe Gerdanoglu was born in İzmir, Turkey. At the age of 15, he began playing the piano on the advice of his uncle, a violin teacher, with whom he then took piano lessons for a year. This was followed by three more years of piano lessons at the city’s music school. For his further academic education, Efe Gerdanoglu moved to Germany, where he has been studying for his Bachelor’s degree at the Cologne University of Music in the class of Prof. Sheila Arnold since 2015.

25-year-old Karolina Tomaszewska was born in Poland and began playing the piano at the age of 7. She studied at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music with Prof. Edward Wolanin. She studied at the Anton Rubinstein International Academy of Music in Düsseldorf with Prof. Dina Yoffe. She is currently studying at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Cologne in the class of Prof. Sheila Arnold.
She is a laureate of many Polish and international competitions. She was awarded several times – among others: Second Prize at the International Piano Competition American Protégé (2015), First Prize and the absolute winner at the International Music Competition in Corato (2014), Third Prize at the International Piano Competition “Chopin Roma” (2013) in Rome, Third Prize at the International Chopin Piano Competition in Mariańskie Łaźnie (2010), Special Prize at the International Piano Competition in Brest (2009), first prize at the International Mozart Piano Competition in Frascatti (2007), second prize at the International Piano Competition in Barletta (2007) first prize at the Miłosz Magin International Piano Competition in Paris (2005), second prize at the Marathon International Piano Competition (2005), third prize at the Polish Music Competition in Jelenia Góra 2005.
In 2009, together with Edward Wolanin, she recorded a CD of works by F. Chopin, which is a supplement to the book “Wieczorynki z Fryderykiem” (The Evening with Fryderyk). The publication was awarded by the Fryderyk Chopin Institute in a competition for Chopin’s educational publication on the 200th anniversary of the composer’s birth. In 2010 Karolina was admitted to the preliminary round of the XVI International Chopin Competition in Warsaw. She participated in international master classes with Kevin Kenner, Karl Heinz Kämmerling, Philippe Entremont, Michel Beroff, André Boainain and Jacques Rouvier. She has performed in Poland, France, Greece, Russia, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Germany, Belgium, Holland, Austria, Spain, Italy, USA. As a prize winner of the International Piano Competition American Protégé, she made her Carnegie Hall debut in 2015. She participated in the following festivals: Chopin Open, La Folle Journée Festival, Mazurkas of the World Festival, “Euregional Chamber Music Festival Maastricht 2014 “, International Festival” Musical Summer Malaga 2014 “.
